The Best Rare Breed Dog story begins in 2017 at Dr. Gary’s clinic in West Oregon. Early in his career, as a Veterinarian in private clinical practice, Dr. Gary began observing what he felt to be nutritionally-induced health conditions such as digestive complications, mobility challenges, and skin issues. He knew that all of us, as pet lovers, could improve our best friend’s health and happiness by simply changing their diet.
To do this, Dr. Gary began recommending changes to his clients’ diets — oftentimes it would be as easy as adding omega fatty acids, glucosamine, amino acids, eggs, or fresh vegetables to their current diets. After several years of observing the benefits of altering his clients’ diets by modifying pet foods that were available at the time, Dr. Gary came to the simple conclusion that surely an all-natural diet could be developed to holistically address these issues.
The founding philosophy behind our formulas is what Dr. Gary calls “Common Sense Nutrition.” Common Sense Nutrition means we disregard the usual marketing and cost control techniques often used by the large conglomerate pet food companies and simply develop the healthiest all-natural pet foods possible. Each ingredient in our formulas MUST be of the highest quality and MUST be accretive to the overall value of the diet, meaning no animal by-products, cheap fillers, any sort of gluten, and artificial preservatives, flavors, and colors.
With this philosophy in mind, Dr. Gary developed Best Breed’s first diet, the Best Rare Breed Dog Cocker Spaniel Diet, which is specially formulated to address health conditions often seen in the Cocker Spaniel breed – flaky skin, infected ears, bad colon, and high irritability. Amazingly, after the dogs were fed the diet for a short period of time, Dr. Gary observed significant improvement in their health. And just as importantly, he observed their owners’ demeanor change from a sad acceptance of their best friend’s chronic conditions to a sense of optimism and pleasure in seeing them more fully enjoy life again.
”I was very happy to find Sheri, she is a true dog lover and takes amazing care of my two dogs. one of my dogs is slightly difficult to handle but, I have no worries with Sheri. Lacee wags her tail and goes with her no problem. Sheri will text over a picture, leave me information on treats that are best formy pets, and cares for each of them ,the way I would. I never worry about Charlie or Lacee when Sheri is around.”
”Sheri is the best!! I have an eight year old Lab who is now finally mellowed out a bit. I also have a two year old puggle who is full of energy! They both love Sheri and enjoy her visits. I gives me great piece of mind to know that my dogs are cared for while I am stuck at work during the day. I live in Cheshire and am so glad I found For The Love Of Dogs. If you love your pets, give Sheri a call. ”
”Our family was so fortunate to be introduced to Sheri and we felt comfortable from the start! Not only does Wrigley love her, but it is apparent how much she loves him and wants the best for him as well. Sheri always has wonderful advice and suggestions for us and is a wonderful resource for information! She is such a wonderful fit for us and we trust her with our worry or concern!”
”Sheri of For the Love of Dogs is a treasure - our puppy, Ben, loves her and waits for her visits every day. We love her, too -- we don't have to worry at all about Ben while we're at work and are at ease knowing she's visiting him and taking the very best care of him. She's dependable, reliable and truly loves her "clients". Ben's got the very best of care with Sheri!”
